Bulletin 25 December 18th – December 31st 2025
Dear Residents I hope everyone enjoyed a happy Christmas with friends and family and on this New Year’s Eve I wish you all a healthy as well as a crime free 2026. If you are still pondering about the subject of resolutions for the New Year; why not make ‘Crime Prevention’ one of your Resolutions in 2026? ‘Crime Prevention’ is everyone’s business and involves taking some simple but effective steps to prevent crimes such as Burglary taking place. As you read in the last Bulletin and will read in this one, there have been spates of burglaries where the suspects have gained access via first floor windows. Don’t make it easy for the burglar; ensure windows and doors are locked in order to prevent opportunities. Taking just a few steps can make a big difference in keeping your home safe from burglary. Here are a few tips: Lock your doors and windows every time you leave the house, even when you're just out in the garden, remembering to double-lock PVCU doors (lift handle and turn key). Get a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property. Leave radios or lights in your house on a timer to make the property appear occupied. Keep ladders and tools stored away; don't leave them outside where they could be used to break into your home. Remove valuables from view of ground floor windows. Store any high value items (i.e. jewellery, passports) in a properly secured safe or bank vault. If your car has a keyless entry system keep the keys in a Faraday key pouch. Install a visual burglar alarm. Install good outside lighting. Make sure the fences around your garden are in good condition. Secure bikes at home by locking them to an immoveable object inside a locked shed or garage. Ensure side gates are locked to prevent access to the rear of the property. Ensure rear fencing is in good repair. Improve natural surveillance at the front of your property i.e. trim high hedges. We would rather investigate a suspected burglar there and then, than be called when it’s too late, so if you see something suspicious in action on your property or land, or your neighbours; call us and let us know.
